Katie's  Way
Pleasant Valley Book 5, Berkley Books, November, 2011

Hoping for a distraction after a personal heartbreak, new arrival Katie Miller sets up her quilt shop on Pleasant Valley’s Main Street, where Amish and Englisch intermingle. It’s  not long before a quilting circle forms and women from both worlds are crafting together and sharing their secrets, turning the store into a lively spot for socializing…much to the consternation of the furniture craftsman next door. Caleb Brand has kept to himself since he lost his betrothed under scandalous circumstances, and he could do without all the feminine chatter—and Katie Miller’s carefree attitude.

When Katie becomes involved in promoting Pennsylvania Dutch Days, some in town appreciate the new business it brings. But others are upset about the flood of outsiders it attracts. Katie turns to Caleb for comfort, and despite his resistance, a fragile friendship forms. Then, when acts of vandalism suddenly threaten Katie’s shop—and the peace of Pleasant Valley—Caleb must decide whether to stand by the young woman who has brought a spring thaw to his frozen heart, and Katie must question whether her cherished independence may deprive her of one more chance at love…

VANISH IN PLAIN SIGHT
Amish Suspense Book 2
HQN Books, June 2011
Since she was a little girl, Marisa Angelo has been haunted by the image of her mother walking away, suitcase in hand, to return to her Amish roots. Marisa and her Englischer father never saw or heard from her again. Now Marisa has received a shocking call from police. Her mother’s bloodstained suitcase was found hidden inside the wall of a Pennsylvania Dutch farmhouse.

Desperate for answers, Marisa heads to Lancaster County. But no one—not the police or Marisa’s tight-lipped Amish relatives—can explain what happened to her mother. Only one man is as determined as Marisa to unravel the mystery—Link Morgan, the handsome ex-military loner who found the suitcase in the house he inherited from his uncle. Now both Link’s and Marisa’s family member are implicated in the decades-old disappearance.

The secret lies somewhere in the quaint Amish settlement. But someone will do anything to ensure the truth remains hidden forever.

I’m so glad you stopped by to visit the website dedicated to my inspirational romances—my Amish romances published by Berkley Books, inspirational romances published by Love Inspired, and my series of Amish Suspense published by HQN Books. Nothing gives me more pleasure than hearing from readers, so I hope you’ll e-mail me. If you send me your mailing address, I’ll be happy to reply with a signed bookmark and my free brochure of Pennsylvania Dutch recipes. Since I come from a long line of women who were only happy when they were feeding people, I enjoy sharing recipes. You’ll also find some on the recipe page of this site.

We had a wonderful summer, although the weather was strange to say the least, and sweet corn and tomatoes were in short supply at times. Still, we had grandchildren come to visit, and they had great fun playing in the creek and taking rides in the wagon behind the tractor. This year they were old enough to have a secret hiding place out of eyesight--but not earshot—of Grammy, and they had a wonderful time with all sorts of imaginative play, just as their parents did at that age.

It is so hard to believe that Autumn is here already. The trees are turning color, the squirrels scurry across the backyard collecting nuts, and the black walnut tree cooperates by dropping black walnuts all over the place, ready to trip an unwary foot. I’ve let  my coneflowers stand even though the leaves are yellowing and dropping, because the birds still come to perch on them and pluck the seeds from their centers. It’s time for pumpkins and mums, football games and foggy mornings, with a fire in the fireplace a welcome sight come evening.

Fall usually brings the biggest event in our small area, the county fair. This year, though, our town was devastated by flooding, causing misery that seems to go on and on. We were lucky, here in the country, to get away with a few feet of water in the barn, but we were cut off for several days and over twenty-five percent of our town was under water. It’s a long road back, but it will come, and people will be eternally grateful to all those who simply dropped everything else to go and help. By a few days after the crest, when we were able to get into town, we saw volunteers everywhere. The Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the National Guard, and ordinary people, some of whom had their own losses, pitched in and continue to do so.

In writing news, I’m currently working on the seventh book in the Pleasant Valley series, and there will be at least two more books after this one in that series. Luckily there are lots of stories to tell in Pleasant Valley, and I never get tired of visiting there again.

DANGER IN PLAIN SIGHT, the third book in my Amish Suspense series from HQN Books, will be coming out in June, 2012. I’ve also written a new novella in that series, FALLEN IN PLAIN SIGHT, which will appear in an anthology of Amish suspense stories called DARK CROSSING. The anthology will be out in July, 2012 from HQN Books.

And I’ve just completed a new book for Love Inspired. Called HER SURPRISE SISTER, it is the first book in a continuity series called Texas Twins. It will come out in July, 2012, to be followed by five other books in the series, one per month, each by a different author.

Please stay in touch. You can see my schedule of appearances, as well as read my ramblings about country life and the Plain People, by checking out my blog. Just click the link above. Look for me on Facebook at Marta Perry Books.  I’d love to hear from you, and I’ll be happy to send you a signed bookmark and my brochure of Pennsylvania Dutch recipes.

Blessings,
Marta
